Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing is an international journal published by the Association for Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing (ACLCLP), a.k.a. ROCLING. ROCLING holds computational linguistics conferences annually. The growth of ROCLING coincided with the rapid growth of research activities in computational linguistics and Chinese language processing. Members of ROCLING as well as many other colleagues in this field thought that ROCLING should play an even more active role to promote research and technical advancement in these two areas. After in-depth discussion, we reached the conclusion that the best way for ROCLING to contribute to the growth of our field at this stage is to provide a forum for high quality papers. Therefore, the International Journal of Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing was founded in August 1996. Since then, this journal is published twice per year. In order to promote research and technical advancement and play a more active role in this area, this journal is scheduled to publish four issues per year from 2005.
